Start preparing!

I came across this article and thought, oh my gosh I am glad that I have been preparing! Don't know if it is true or not, but I thought it note worthy to post. Since I have been the canning specialist I obviously have been working and getting my food storage in order. I am sure that you heard the cannery isnt going to be carrying white wheat anymore and supposedly there is a shortage that hasnt yet hit our country. I keep hearing that china isnt going to be importing rice and all kinds of rumors, then I saw this article and was like hmmmm...maybe there is a little truth to some of it. At any rate...I hope that we all have been preparing like we have been asked. I love that we are now supposed to work on our 3 month supply first. It is so much easier and more practical! Hope you enjoy the article.

Making progress!

So last week we made a mad dash to good old St. Johns. My brother called me and said they were having a city wide clean up day and that you could take 5 trucks/trailer full for only $15.00. I did a post awhile back on the house we bought in St. Johns that flooded. We had to gut to gut the whole entire house on the inside and all the stuff was basically put in our back yard. We have been chipping away at it here and there. It is WAY EXPENSIVE to dump. They charge you by the pound so one big dumpster would cost over $500.00. We had already dumped 3 f those big ones. So it was a no brainer that we had to go and take advantage. So we worked our tails off! We took 5 big trailer loads full and they only charged us $10.00. Sweet! We also took 2 trailer loads full to the green dump area.
Funny because when we came back to dump the second load at the green dump someone had already taken all the wood we dumped off. I should have just said free wood at my house. Oh well. I am so thankful my brothers decided to call me and let me know! It was a royal job for rob and I. We had the whole family help, but with cousins there the older ones didnt want to work so much. So I am posting some before and after. Please tell me that it looks like we made a dent in the big mess. Sad because we still have about 3 more loads or so to go. At least we are making progress right! Someday it will be our beautiful second home to go stay at during the summers!

I had to put this picture of my niece kaitlin on here. We put this wig on her and she was so content to wear it. It was so funny! So is such a doll!

Its all the rage!

So I know that I already did a post about my sister in laws aprons, but I can't help but doing another. They are so dang cute! Don't know if you have noticed, but aprons are on the way back. They are all the rage right now. So after asking her for more pictures she sent them to me, so I am posting them again along with a few different ones. She also sent me her prices which are as follows.

Half aprons for adults are $55.00 and $45.00 for children.

Full Aprons for adults are $75.00 and $65.00 for children.

She can even make them for you if you have your own fabric...
I personally like the fabrics she picks...living in California she is able to get such adorable ones. I love the little cancer aprons...too cute. She told me she also has picked up some cute food fabrics...bananas, tomatoes, limes, apples etc. Can't wait to see how those turn out. Anyways...hope you enjoy the pictures!
If any of you homemakers out there want to look cool while your cooking for your family let me know and I will hook you up!

What to do....what to do???

Rob has been planning on a last dune trip and was going this weekend. He decided to take Kaden my baby. Well he is almost 4 but still my baby. So we all got up, took the other 3 to school and helped him pack up. I was a little sad to have them go. So I have the weekend without a little one to think about. What do I do? So far I have just been relaxing watching whatever I want, listening to music loud, and just being lazy. I sure appreciate rob that he has no fears of taking kids alone. He has always done this since the beginning of our marriage. It is nice to get a break once in a while.
I think that I am going to just go hang out with makenna, and see what she wants to do. Kailey is going on a date....now that she is 16 that seems like what she wants to do most. Kyle is either going to St. Johns with my nephew or staying home. He and Kailey have a party to go to tomorrow night so we will see what he picks. I must say it will be nice to just hang out with makenna. She is a doll. She makes me laugh.
I am looking forward to the summer with the kids. I am hoping to make myself and the kids a schedule and keep by it. I don't want them watching tv all summer. I have been writing done all the things that I want to do with them. I am hoping on doing some travels locally with them. So maybe fridays will be our travel day, although it will be movie day too. I am sure I can work on something. I plan on getting them up and working them. They all need to learn to work more. It seems like it is always a fight to get them to help. They will always do simple things, ie bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen. I feel spring cleaning coming on!
I am hoping to have a reading day too. I used to be in a reading program through the St. Johns Library. We would read so many books in different subjects and earn these little patches that someone had hand painting on fabric. I thought it was the coolest thing ever and would read like crazy! I think I even got put in the local paper for earning them all. What a cool thing! These days I feel guilty reading because I have so much to do always. I hate guilt. I am learning to overcome it! This morning I have layed around and not done anything that needs to get done...that is progress right!? Well I must run get makenna and start our adventure!
