Great 80's music

So any of you who know me well know that I LOVE 80's music. I love listening to it and even have my teenage kids thinking it is cool. In fact I don't know who has noticed how many remakes are being made of 80's music. It really bugs me because some of them are completely stupid. I will admit there are a few that are pretty good, but a few lately are just slaughtering the originals.
Anyways...Friday night we got tickets to see the Fixx and The English Beat. I was so excited. Rob's friend spence and his wife rita were in town and so they wanted to go with. It was also my friend Becky's birthday. We drug them along being that they were very young during the 80's. I know that she didnt really want to go but was a good sport and came along anyways. We went to dinner at Cheesecake factory and then headed over to the "Zoo Brew". It was at the Zoo and yep
you guessed it...When I heard Zoo Brew being the nieve mormon I thought it meant a variety of bands. I know you are laughing and I am almost embarassed to say that is really what I thought but it was.
So needless to say they gave us these punch cards along with these mini beer mugs to taste test beer. We were all laughing saying we should go up to some really drunk person and offer to sale our punch cards for $50.00. None of us got up the courage but my little kids thought the mugs were cute. We were all excited because they gave away free water and soda. We all were able to sample some of the food and deserts they had. CPK, melting pot, Luigis, snow cones, and of course I had to buy some cotton candy...my favorite! Rob got an English Beat hat and I got a cd and tee shirt. The bands sounded really good live too. That is always a plus!
I hope the Lavenders had a good time as you can see by one of the pictures aaron was falling asleep and I know that becky didnt really know many of the songs that were played. Oh to be young and under 30! Happy Birthday 80's style!
So far I have seen Bon Jovi a few times that he has been here, Asia, Hall and oates and now can add the fixx and english beat to that!

We are making progress! Slowly and surely we are making progress on the hall closet. Rob got it all framed and shelves set up. Woo Hoo! Aaron came over and put the electrical in with a little help from rob. We are hoping to start the dry wall on Monday. If you look at the one picture of the back wall you can see the shelves or how they will be. We got a few more shelves than we thought which was a bonus! Hopefully the next time I post it will be all done. Wouldn't that be a great thing!

City Track Meet

So this past Saturday we spent most of the day at the Mesa City Track Meet. Kailey was competing in 3 events. The High jump, 1600m and 3200m. The one picture is of her while she was high jumping. You can't really see her to well she is right under the goal post. Unfortunately our camera doesnt have a great zoom on it. The other picture is just of her running in the mile. She ended up doing really well and we were really proud of her. She took 5th in the high jump, 8th in the mile and 4th in the 2 mile.
The Fremont girls track team took first place which was really exciting for them! Kailey was excited because the Red Mountain Cross country/track coach was there watching and she ended up pulling kailey up to compete in the high school district track meet. I guess her times are as good or better than some of the high school girls. So she has been going every day and running with Red Mountain. Her next meet is Wednesday. I think it will be a good experience for her! I do feel a little bad for her though because on Mondays she goes and runs with the high school get home for a little bit and then turns back around and goes to basketball at Red Mountain. Oh to be young and full of energy!

I DID IT!

I finally did it! I have finally started losing weight and feel so much better about myself! Woo Hoo! After months and months of working at this for some strange reason it is finally coming off. The funny thing is I am doing the exact same thing I did back in October. I guess that I am working out a bit more since I got a treadmill for Christmas. I am doing more aeorobic exercising but that is about all. Well whatever has happened I am so happy! I have since hit a plateau but am still working at it. I am down in all of my clothes. I did save a few smaller sizes from before hoping someday I would get back in to them, but I think rob is going to have to let me go on a shopping spree. My closet is empty now of all my big clothes. I am not going to hang on to them in case I gain it back. I won't gain it back ever again! So if there is anyone that knows someone who could use big clothes I have a ton of shirts, capris, and long shorts. I am hoping someone will know someone because we all know how hard it is to find shorts long enough! I should try to take some pictures and do a before and after only I have not yet hit my finished look yet....will I ever?

These past few weeks we have been lucky to have visitors come stay with us. The weekend that Rob and I went to douglas his sister bunnie, brother in law gary, and son Jackson came and stayed with us. They came on Thursday so we were able to see them before we left on Friday. They stayed with our kids until Saturday. We love when they come to see us. It had been awhile since they had come out. My sister in law bunnie is the greatest. She is so much fun. She took all of my kids, including Kaden (the pistol) bowling. They had so much fun! I heard and still hear stories all about it. Makenna got a strike and little kaden got a spare. They really enjoyed themselves. I totally forgot to take a picture of them so I can't post one of them. I will take one next time for sure!

Then our niece robyn and her husband eric came and stayed with us this last week. They flew in Sunday evening and went home on Thursday. They actually only stayed with us one night and spent the rest with her grandma. I did remember to take a picture of them its not the greatest, but you can see what a cute couple they are. I thought I took a few pictures but when I downloaded them it was only one. They came back over and went to kyles track meet and then to dinner with me and makenna on wednesday evening. If any of you know Eric and Robyn they are so much fun to be around. Eric taught makenna some cool games. They played rock paper scissors and whoever won had to have only vegetables for dinner. Eric ended up winning but let makenna off the hook. He is great with kids! We have always got a kick out of Robyn's comments. She is the best. Rob was still feeling sick so he didn't go with us. Oh I don't think that I posted that after my 3 kids were sick my poor husband got it. He was in bed all day and night. I was somehow lucky and didn't catch any of it. Woo Hoo! My brother and his family were supposed to come this last weekend but ended up not being able to make it. That would have made 2 weekends with family staying with us.

We actually love have family come stay with us. We don't get to see them too much and so we love to spend any time we can with them.
We finally decided to cut down a few of our trees. We had been discussing it for awhile now, and with the extreme weather and all of the trees without leaves we thought it was the perfect time. We actually got several quotes to have it done, but everyone wanted so much money. So thursday night rob went to work and cut down 3 of our huge mature trees. One was a huge ficus that was at least 11 years old. It was huge and big and beautiful but the problem was that it was growing into the house. We didn't plan very well when we started putting our landscaping in years ago. So since all the trees were ugly because of the frost we decided it may be easier to do ourselves.

I sent kailey out to take pictures of rob and hadn't looked to see how they turned out. So what you see is what you get. You can get the idea from the pictures even though rob's face is cut off or not showing. But these are of the big ficus coming down. We also cut down 2 big rubber trees. They too were to close to the house and one was knocking tiles off of our house so they had to come down. We spent saturday morning in a long line at the dump. The whole family went minus makenna, she was at a primary activity day. I should have taken pictures at the dump but didnt. It was good family time and hopefully passed on some hard working skills for the kids. It is amazing how different our house looks without the trees. I am glad that we are done and it is over with. We saved ourselves a lot of money. We just now have to pay to have the stumps groung down and injected. I had been hoping to work on our closet, but this was something that needed to be done as well. Another big project checked off at our house!

I have been able to catch up on my blogging today since I stayed home from work. Actually for the first time ever I wish that I were at work. Sunday night kailey came in several times and told me she wasnt feeling well. She started throwing up and was up most of the night throwing up. Then Monday morning Kyle comes in and says the same thing. So both kailey and kyle stayed home from school yesterday and I ended up still going to work because it was too late to call in and they are older now and don't need as much help. Well at 2:30 I got a call from my friend kim who told me that makenna threw up at school and she had her. I told her to take her home with the other sick kids. I don't think that I have ever had 3 of my kids sick at the same time. Rob went home and checked on them and they all were laying on the couch with buckets on the floor. I wish I would have taken a picture. They would have been mad but it really was a site to see. So I left work early and went and got them bahama bucks cause they all wanted something cold. When I got home they were still laying on the couch with the exception of kyle he had moved to the floor. I immediately went to work spraying lysol everywhere and washing blankets etc. Rob went to the diamond backs game and when he got home I had just finally settled down for the night. I was exhausted. So this morning I made kailey go to school because she already missed testing from yesterday and couldn't miss anymore. Makenna and Kyle stayed home. Kyle has aims testing tomorrow so he will go back for sure and I think makenna is over it as well. I just hope that rob and I don't get it. This morning kyle and kailey were weighing themselves and kyle said he lost 9 pounds and kailey said 7 I think. Poor kids....I don't think they have ever thrown up so much! This is a nasty bug going around! I am a little worried because both kyle and kailey have track meets this week and I don't think they will be competing at their best. Oh well I just hope our family gets better!

Easter

I am a little disppointed in myself. We got home so late saturday night (sunday morning) that we were running around crazy trying to get to church on time. Our church is at 9am and rob and I went to bed close to 2, so we were so tired! We managed to get ready and was only 5 minutes late. Anyways...I didnt even take any pictures of my kids after church. We all came home and went to sleep. We did color easter eggs later in the afternoon and I took a few pictures that I will post. We did have a nice easter, just exhausted after the quick trip. We did have a little easter egg hunt with the kids. Rob was VERY EXCESSIVE with the money that he put in the eggs for the kids. The 3 older were surprised to find $100.00 in each egg. I have to say I was surprised and shocked and appauled etc. We are having them put the money into their savings account of course. I thought he should have made me a special egg too!

I think the first picture is of my cousin Mindy. Mindy and I grew up together in St. Johns and she has always been one of my favorite cousins. We are the same age and so we went to school and played many hours with each other. It was fun to visit with her and remember all the crazy, fun, awful things we did as kids. I have some great memories! The other pictures are of my sister and her family. Jake is the oldest boy, Jenna is her daughter, and of course Levi and Kase. For some reason in most of the pictures I took our eyes are all really red. I don't have the patience to fix them. This whole blog thing is frustrating because I keep forgetting to put things in backwards and so the post I want on top is on the bottom etc. Someday I will get the hang of it!

Wedding pictures

So my friend that got married is also my brother in law Spence's sister. So all of my sister's kids were in the wedding. I am going to post a few pictures of the wedding. One of the pictures is of my cousin Mindy and I at the wedding, then one of rob and I, and then one of me and rob and my sister and her husband spence.

Douglas

We made a quick weekend trip to douglas arizona this weekend. One of my friends was getting married there so rob and I went without our kids and took along my cousin Mindy.

We stayed in the historical Gadsden Hotel built in 1907. It was a really cool hotel. Rob and I got the jacuzzi suite which was huge compared to the other rooms. We had a blast driving around exploring the town. We ate at a mexican resturant called Yogi's. We went shopping and asked the clerk where a good mexican food resturant was and she told us Yogi's. It doesnt' sound like mexican but had really great food for cheap! It was yum.

We went driving around town friday night and came across the movie theatre. Mindy and I got a kick out of the name and so we took a picture in front of it.
