So a few months ago I was sitting in my little kids room when out of the corner of my eye I see something hop down on their window seal. I look over and to my amazement I see a little squirrel sitting there. So I call the kids over and show them and it runs off. Well Kade and Makenna thought it would be nice to leave some nuts outside for it. So again another day I see the squirrel outside the window. This time Kade and I run out just in time to see it scale up the side of our house and run across the roof. I looked up and realized that their were 2 squirrels. I run around to the side of the house trying to see where there went. No luck. I go inside wondering...
So a few days later I see a squirrel outside again and I run out there and it darts across the street in to my neighbors truck which sets off the alarm. I just chuckled to myself. So a few days later I am doing dishes and look outside and guess who I saw sitting outside on my planter. I quickly open the door it looks at me and drops something and scales the fence and is gone. I go over and realize that it had been eating my tomatoes. I was not happy. So I tell rob about this squirrel and the frustration I have been feeling. He just laughed at me. So one sunday we were on our way to church and I glanced up and see 2 squirrels perched on our roof. I slam on the brakes and tell rob. We both laughed and kept on our way to church. So more days pass and I notice that skip our dog is trying to get under our grill. SO I open the door and let him inside because it is hollow under the counter. So I hear all this commotion going on and pretty soon a squirrel pops out from under the grill somehow and goes running off. I am thinking to myself.....what the crap. Where do these things live?
So about a month later which was a few weeks ago....I am up early getting ready for work and I hear what sounds like elephants above my head. I wake rob up...we both listen and realize that they are up in our attic. A few days later suddenly our door bell stops working and we realize that we need to get a trap and get them the heck out of there before they do any more destruction. So Rob goes and buys a trap and I get this call from home they caught the squirrel. I was elated! The kids left it in the trap on top of the roof though and the poor thing baked in the cage. So rob had to dump the dead squirrel. Discusting!
I remind rob that we had seen 2 and so we decided to set the trap again. So on a saturday morning I hear this loud bang and lots of commotion on the outside of my bedroom. I get up and go running outside and see that we caught the 2nd squirrel. I was so excited! I immediately take the cage down because I don't want this one to suffer and die like the last one. Skip went crazy! Running around the cage and howling. The squirrel was going crazy trying to get out....running back and forth grabbing the sides trying to find a way out. It was no wonder the other one died. It was in the blazing sun and if it was going as crazy as this one I am sure it got heat stroke!
I was determined not to make this little squirrel suffer so I made rob drive us far away from the house. We ended up driving way out to Usery and letting the little thing go. I felt accomplished! That was until this morning when I was coming home from a doctors appointment and low and behold I see a dumb little squirrel running across the street. I thought "no way" to myself. What if they had babies? I seriously have an infestation of squirrels at my house. I am going to make sure the trap is set up and waiting. Is someone videoing me and thinks this is funny? I mean I liked caddyshack but this is getting ridiculous! I hope I have seen the end of the squirrels...but I will keep you posted!
