Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom turned the big 6 0 on July 18th. My sister and I wanted to surprise her and do something fun that she hadnt done before. So we took her over to the JW Marriott in North Scottsdale. What a nice place! We set up a spa day for ourselves. My mom has NEVER done anything like that so we decided that she would really like to be pampered.

We scheduled her for a Turqouise Facial and Turquoise massage. She Loved them. Really who wouldnt love it?! My sister and I got facials which were very relaxing. We had so much fun spending most of the day at the spa. We wish we could have stayed longer. It was really nice and fun just to visit and do something relaxing together. I don't think that I have laughed with my mom and sister like that for a very long time and so I was glad that we made time and spent it together. We had fun going out to eat and shopping. We took her to Sprinkle to get a birthday cupcuke. Of course it was delicious!

I couldnt find the battery for my digital camera, so I grabbed my older one and realized I needed a battery for it. I ran in to target to pick it up and went to buy some more film. I was shocked to realize that you can't buy advantix film anymore. what in the world. It wasnt THAT long ago we actually took regular pictures and had them developed. So I have a nice camera with no film available. I will have to look online I am sure there must be somewhere I can get it. So I have to still get the film developed before I can post pictures. Doesn't that sound funny. So you will have to wait for the pictures. I will post some of just me with my mom and sister over the years...hope you enjoy.

Thanks for being a good mom to me all of these years. I hope that you enjoyed the time we were together at the resort/spa. We need to make more time for ourselves so we can have memories of just the girls together! I love you mom!

Visitor in Town.

My sister in law Bunnie came to visit us! We were very excited to have her come and stay! The weekend started off with so much fun! Rob and I too her to Tum Nuk Thai for lunch which is one of our favs! She enjoyed it as well...that night rob wasn't in the mood to go out so we didn't let him spoil our evening. I took bunnie over to Joes Barbeque for dinner and then we shopped a little at Trader Joes. We had such a great time. It was nice to visit with her with no distractions from the kids.
She came to church with us on Sunday and then she fixed a great dinner of tri-tip for her little brother. It is one of rob's favorite family meals and she was kind enough to make it for him since I don't.

Monday I got up at 4:30 and went to boot camp. We ran almost 3 miles that morning which I was so proud of myself. I had no idea that I could do that. I usually stop when I am running and with a little help from friends and a trainer I kept on. I came home and everyone was still sleeping. Nice I was able to relax a bit too.

Tuesday went to boot camp and worked on our cores. I still don't have much of one but I have been trying. I can't remember what we did each day, but it consisted of taking kids to swim at Shepard pool which was a lot of fun. Shopping. Good food..hanging out at the pool and just enjoying time together. I went to work on THursday and was in so much pain I thought I was going to die. I guess the combination of boot camp and work wearing the lead just made my back go in to fits. I called in to work friday. There was no way that I could work. I could hardly stand. So pretty much the rest of the time I was down and out. I wasn't in the mood to do much of anything. I just wanted my back pain to go away. I feel bad that she had to be here when that all happened. But she of course was a good sport and just hung out with us.

She did start to teach makenna how to crochet. Makenna thought it was the coolest. Actually makenna loved everything about bunnie. I think she was her side kick most of the stay. Bunnie would go in and read stories to them at night. She would play pretend with kaden during the day. They went on many adventures together! She even tried to teach kailey to sew. We went out and let kailey pick out the fabric to make a basic skirt. Kailey just wasn't in to it unfortunately. Oh well someday I am sure she will regret not learning! I know that I have said before on my blog how amazing bunnie is, but it is true. She is one of the most multi talented people I know. She has the gift of gab. She can talk to ANYONE and put you at ease. I think she made a lot of friends while she was here! I appreciate her sharing her talents with me and my family. She was tons of fun to have! Hopefully we will get to see her in August again!

I am going to post a few pictures of the crocheting she did. She made us these adorable little place mats. She also starting making makenna a beenie. She took makenna to the store and let her pick out what color she wanted. As you can see by the picture it was very bright!

Bunnie decided to help makenna make something out of a cookbook. Makenna was in heaven. She LOVES to cook or learn about baking etc. I think that bunnie should start up kids classes because she is so patient and kind! They ended up making these brownies from scratch and pudding. You layer the brownie and pudding in a cup and put a popsicle stick in it and freeze it. I didn't try the finished product but the brownies were yum!

Thanks for coming and staying bunnie...We love you! Hopefully next time I can be in a better mood!

My poor back

So for some reason I can't sleep. This seems to be turning in to the norm these days. So I got up and started blog surfing hoping it would help me go back to sleep. No luck. So I thought I would post.
A few weeks back I hurt my back. I actually don't know when I did it. My back has hurt for quite awhile and I kept ignoring it, hoping it would go away. Well I think with the combination of boot camp and work it has suffered even more. So now I am off of work for a few weeks hoping that it will get better. I have been going to Physical therapy which helps until I leave and start back to my normal "Motherly" duties. It is like a nagging tooth ache. It just won't stop. At this point I really am a bit worried that it isnt going to get better. But I will keep my positive thoughts going and work on healing it.

Summer has been so busy. Remember awhile back I wanted to plan the perfect summer and be organized and scheduled. Well that hasn't happened. In the beginning I had planned one day craft day, another cooking, another swimming at a local pool, friday would be traveling day etc. We have managed to do some but just not on the days that I had planned. We did start our reading program at the beginning of June and whomever reads the most gets a prize. We never really decided on the prize, but so far makenna is winning. We made this big caterpillar and add to the body with every book read. It is really cute, I will take a picture so you can get the idea. I have put my kids in a few classes this summer but it just seems like we are so busy with life that it is hard to slow down. I have tried to keep my goal of an hour of tv a day, especially for makenna. She hates it, but I refuse to let her plunk down and veg all summer.

I have been busy trying to get ready for girls camp. I am bummed that I can't go home for the 24th celebration. It seems like things keep me from going home to SJ. I hate it, it has been way too long. I am hoping to go for a week or so at the beginning of August right before school starts. Which brings me to I can't believe that school will be here again. I am thinking of switching schools for makenna, trying to decide what the right thing to do is hard! Rob's sister has been here visiting. I will do another post once I download pictures.

I am just glad to be off of work for a few weeks to heal my back. I hope it works and that I can make myself not over do it. It is hard for me to sit idle, but that is what i need to do. Well I am going to go take a shower and try to get the day started. I hope to post more as always. I envy those that are able to post every day. I love to read them! Congrats to my friend Kristen on her new beautiful little girl!
