Makenna's Baptism

Last weekend Makenna was baptized. I am still shocked that she is already 8. The weekend was a lot of fun. We had lots of family in town and lots of friends came to support her. My sister in laws and myself got up early saturday and started preperations of food for afterwards. I had fun visiting and appreciated the help! I can't remember the last time that I have gotten to spend time with julie and keirsten. Usually there are kids around to interupt etc...but it was fun to laugh and visit. Rob's sister bunnie came and stayed again for the week...she is thinking of moving out here so she was checking things out.

We made it to the church on time and everything went very well. It was so nice to have family around. I haven't been able to go home all summer and I have missed it terribly! I am glad that makenna realizes the importance of being baptized. She looked so beautiful and has been so happy since. I saved the dress she wore from when kailey was baptized. My mother in law helped me buy that dress for kailey many years ago. I loved it so much then, so I saved it. I was able to dry clean it and let maken wear it. Now I feel it has gotten its use!

We were lucky to have our families come and join us for Makenna's baptism. It was so nice. My whole family all came down and most of Rob's. I know that it was a sacrifice on both families parts and we appreciate them supporting her!

Josie turns 1!

Our good friends Al and Patty had a birthday party for their little girl Josie. She turned 1. She is the cutest little thing ever! They had a very nice party at the zoo, which my kids loved. As you can see by the pictures she loved her first birthday cake! It was funny to watch her go to town with the frosting! Josie is such a good baby. I just love when I get the chance to watch her. Kade is in love with her too, almost too much. He always gets right up in her face and tries to talk to her. I think it is a little intimidating to have him so close in her face. My family loves her to death! We also love her parents! What a fun day to spend at the zoo with our friends and their families! Makenna was happy because Erin who is Patty's niece flew in to celebrate the day. They get along quite well. I think it is the last picture of Erin. She is adorable too! So happy birthday Josie! We hope to celebrate many more with you! I am a little behind...her party was a week ago last saturday. Thanks for a great party Al and Patty!

Starting School

I am sad that tomorrow is the first day of school. I don't know where the summer has gone. I feel like I didn't get to really spend the quality time with the kids that I was hoping for. Seems like I was just writing the post about all the things that I wanted to do with them. One of the things that we did do was the reading competition. We decided at the beginning of summer we would all see who could read the most books. So we made this cute little caterpillar face and with each book finished we would write the book title and add to its body.
After this whole summer I am proud to say the winner is Makenna. She and I actually were the only ones that ended up reading whole books. Mine technically were much longer and would probably be more pages than hers, but I am letting her win as any good mother would do. So as you can see by the pictures we created quite a big caterpillar . So tomorrow while the kids are all at school I will take it sadly down. It was something fun for us to do and I hope that she liked it. I know it helped her with her reading skills!
I am sure that I will have good things to report about the first day of school. They all seem to be excited. I am a little sad. At least kade will be home with me. He starts preschool after labor day. I will be excited for the old routine school life. I am getting an injection in my back and then returning back to work next week. I hope that it helps. I did find out that I have fractured my back at some point. Who knew. I always thought that if you broke your back you would know exactly when it happens. That is not the case for me. I am looking forward to getting better soon!

Last summer fun

So Last Friday night my sister, daughter, niece, mom and sister in laws all went over to the changing hands book store to go to the "Breaking Dawn" party. We had so much fun. I wish that I would have taken pictures of some of the people there. A lot of people were dressed up as characters. The whole store was completely packed. Who knew that staying up past midnight for a book would be so fun. After we played a few games and looked around, we went next door to the wild flower bread co and had a little dessert while we waited. We had to laugh when we left because my mom recently got a Silver Vovlo which is the car that edward drove. They happened to find a parking spot right up front. People were all taking pictures by it so we decided to join in on the fun and take some on the silver volvo. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading. My sister and her family along with my family stayed at the Point for the weekend which was a complete blast. We hung out at the water park all day and just enjoyed time together and relaxing. All of my brothers and parents stayed up at a resort in Scottsdale. We didnt do very good planning...my sister and I made arrangements to do something. We had no idea my brothers and their families were coming. Oh well at least I got to meet up with my mom and sister in laws.
I still have yet to be able to get kailey to read the twilight series. She is being rebellious. I told her tonight that if she read it and didnt like it, I would pay her. But that she had to be honest. I don't know if that will work or not. My niece jenna hasnt read them either. As you can see by the picture she was blissfully happy about her UFC book she found..lol I don't know if I liked this one as well. In fact I have put it down for the last few days because I was starting to be annoyed. I know that I need to pick it back up and read it. But I just lost interest after a certain part. So I will reserve my opinion until I am officially done. Until then enjoy the pictures.

I had to put this in the post. Friday my sister, her daughter jenna and kailey and myself went and did a little school clothes shopping. We ended up down at tempe market place. Kailey wasnt feeling very good and started getting the chills and feeling sick to her stomach. So we went and got her some medicine and went over to Old Navy. She decided to stay in the car to warm up a bit. I went inside and had been in the store for only a few minutes when kailey called me frantic on the other line. She was yelling mom someone tried to break in to the car...I could hear the alarm going off and so I ran outside.
Sure enough some jerk tried to break in to my car and got the surprise of their life when kailey unlocked the door setting off the alarm and then opened the door and started screaming at them. Freaking idiots....I am so glad that she decided to lock the doors and was safe. The whole incident could have turned out awful. So I took a picture of the ruined key hole in my car that they jacked up with a screw driver or something.

Makenna turns 8!

My little makenna turned 8. I can't believe it! She is getting too big. We had a little family party with her because we were going to stay at a resort with cousins a few days later. We are now getting ready for in a few weeks her baptism. She will be getting baptized on August 16th. She is so excited! She is starting at a new school this year and I hope that she makes lots of new little friends and has a great year! She has a lot of new and exciting things happening. She is completely excited about going to activity days. They invited her a few weeks ago and that was all she could talk about! I can't believe that she will be starting 3rd grade and activity days and getting baptized. It is fun to be 8!

24th of July Celebration

Kailey and I didn't get to go to St. Johns this year for the 24th. We were so sad. Instead we were at girls camp. I went as the camp nurse although I am currently the Laurel advisor. I can say I am so glad that we made is through and nothing major happened! I am glad that Rob took some pictures so that I could see the kids enjoy the festivities.
Every Saturday during the 24th they have a parade. The whole town participates. They shut down main street and make sure it is safe to start the parade. They usually have a theme and each different axillary from the church makes up a float according to the theme. It is so much fun to go to. So everyone lines up and down main street and watches the parade and cool floats. Rob didnt take many pictues of the floats, but he did takes lots of the kids running out and getting the candy. Kade had a blast and had to show me first thing that he got lots of candy. With any luck I will be able to make up for the 24th next year!

The fire truck always ends the parade by shooting water at everyone. It is a nice way to cool off as the summer days can get hot in St. Johns.

My niece jenna and her cousin and friend have been participating in the grocery race at the rodeo. The race consists of 3 people and a horse with no saddle. The 3 people have to hop on to the horse ride it down to the end of the arena. They then hop off and 1 girl gets a cup of water, another an egg, and the last one a watermelon. They quickly grab them and then have to hop back on the horse and run back. In order to win you must still have a cup with water in it, and egg not broken and a whole watermelon. This year they took first place on both days! It is always a high light of the rodeo and fun to watch. Rob took the kids out to watch. Kade was even lucky and got a ride from mitty.
