A few things we have been up to

Our good friend Kim was trying to sleep one night when she felt something and then a sting and found a scorpion in her bed. As you can imagine she was freaked out which is what brought on the scorpion hunting. We all met in her development with black lights in hand and started looking for them. I was shocked at how many we found. A lot were in cracks and so we couldnt get them. But you can see we killed 10 or so that night. We smashed so many it doesnt look like many but it was! Kailey and Kim have gone again and killed over 100. They decided to go around her whole development in the walk ways and get to work. Wish I would have had the camera that night and seen all of them in the bucket. Yuck!

Kyle and Kailey have started Cross country. The season seems to be going well. Kailey won her first metal which she was happy about. Her knees are still giving her a little bit of a problem but overall she is able to run so that is great. I think she just needs to strengthen them now and she will be back in full force!

My Aunt Lee was kind enough and brought me some sweet corn from up on the mountain. So for FHE we blanched it and got it all bagged up so we can have yummy corn over the winter! It is so good!

Kaden started Preschool. I can't believe that all of my kids are in school now. I am just thankful it is only 3 days a week so I can relish my last year with him!

We went to St. Johns for the county fair. We had a great time hanging out with family. We actually were so busy working on our yard that we only got to go to the fair on Saturday night. We took the kids and went to the carnival. We had a great time and was happy that my dad would go on rides with the kids so I didn't have to! I got to see a lot of old classmates which was nice and fun too!

I was cracking up one day when my 2 nephews came pumping up to Chris's house. Seems Kace is Levi's slave driver...Only in St. Johns. The others are pictures of my adorable nieces Kaitlin, Ava and Kansas.

Scorpions?!?! SICK!!! I found ONE yellow scorpion in our house about 2 years ago. It was 1:00 in the morning, everyone was sleeping, and of course I'm the one that found it on the wall. I couldn't go to sleep without killing it, so I grabbed my Dad's shoe and smashed its guts all over the wall :) BUT, before I murdered it, I took a picture of it because I KNEW my Dad wouldn't believe me. The next morning, I told him about the scorpion, and sure enough, he said, "In my house?! NO WAY!" I showed him the picture. His eyes got all big, it was hilarious. Can't believe Kailey went around killing them! You go girl!!

That's so fun you went to St. Johns. I just wrote on Mindy's wall and told her I haven't been in a few years and have no reason to go up now that my grandparents live in the valley :( Kind of sad, but we like having them close to us.

It was great having you guys here! We always enjoy the times we get to hang out. Next time we need to plan another murder mystery, so let me know when you think you might come again and I'll order one.

I hate scorpions! Other than smashing them they are almost impossible to kill. Lee called me too and wanted to bring me corn. I was too busy to try to take care of it so I said no. Now I see all the corn you have and I'm jealous! I love corn. Looks like good times in St. Johns. I'll miss going up there.

Hooray! I found your blog. For some reason I couldn't get to it before. Your family is beautiful. I'm excited to read more and I'm sure Rick will enjoy all of the links to the St. Johns folk.
That YW mud activity looks so fun. I wonder if they'd let us do that here. Of course our evenings are getting colder and we don't have any swimming pools around these parts, but I bet the kids would still LOVE it!

Ew!! Scorpions scare me soooo bad. I wouldn't be brave enough to go kill any so props to Kailey! LOL mmm... that is good corn. I haven't had any in a longggg time... maybe I should sweet talk Lee into sending me some too.. *ponders* Glad you all had fun at the fair! I wish I could have gone too!

That is one thing I do not miss. There are no scorpions in Maryland. Craig owns chickens, because they eat scorpions.

Great pictures.

The corn looks super yummy! Looks like you have had a lot of fun as of late. I will know who to call next time we see scorpions! We have only had two in the house this summer, and nobody has gotten stung(knock on wood)!

I haven't been on your blog in so long! It looks like you have all been having so much fun! I know all about scorpions...remember when I got stung in the butt at my Aunt Debbie's house, after getting out of the shower. I was totally freaked. I would have loved to go hunting for them..sounds like fun. I read Julie's post above and agree that we should do another murder mystery! That would be so fun. Love you all...oh, and Kade's hair looks adorable..I LOVE it!!

My mom is addicted to hunting scorpions nightly! It is amazing. she goes out and finds 2 or 3 a night. then, the missionaries staying with them got in on it. I think that is just NUTS!!
