Skating gone wrong....terribly wrong!

I remember as a child on one particular Christmas I got a pair of skates. They weren't ordinary skates...they were skates that looked like tennis shoes. Blue shoes with a white stripe and red wheels. Kirstin and I both got a pair that year. My cousin Mindy also got a pair of skates for Christmas! We were all so happy! We all spent almost the entire Christmas day at the park in St. Johns trying to teach ourselves how to skate. Before long we were skating down big hills and doing fancy backward moves. So when the girls from my ward wanted to go skating I thought perfect!

Little did I know that skating would not come back as easily as I had thought. In fact I was a little disappointed with myself that I couldnt skate around the rink to the cool music playing. I also have a memory of when the old drug store got turned in to a roller skating rink and I loved to skate to the music. Anyways....I fell once along with a lot of the girls I might add. I had finally started getting my groove on when the started playing Michael Jackson. Woo Hoo! I was skating like I was all that and then some! The thought did cross my mind that if someone skated in front of my I might really biff it.

We were all having a great time until.....a little girl ran in to me from behind. What?? I hadn't even thought of that. Well needless to say I went off trying to catch my balance. I ran in to the side step and fell hard! I immediately felt a snap but didnt really feel any pain so I had the thought to myself...."I hope I didn't break anything". To my amazement when I sat up I saw my finger. TICK! Not a good thing.....not a good thing at all. So natalie rushed me off to the emergency room.

I did fine with no tears at all until I hit the emergency room. If I looked at my finger I got all upset. I wanted to scream and actually got more upset at what I knew was coming. I wanted no part of someone pulling on my finger! Did you hear me??? NO part of pulling on my finger. I had the best ER doctor who was so cool and calming to me. I told him I wanted to be asleep. He assured me that was not possible and that after he numbed my finger I would feel better. He was right! After a few xrays and a few jerks to my finger it looked back to normal.

I now am forbidden to bend my finger because I guess it can slip out of place quite easily since the ligaments were stretched so much. Believe me I haven't even tried. The thought of it slipping out of place is so gross! Give me blood and guts and I am good but whatever you do, don't give me dislocated fingers. I am doing well and back to recovering. Rest assured we won't be going back to skateland....even if they do play michael jackson music!

Rach that is so um, well it's kind of gross looking, but it made me sick for you! When I got Kailey's text, with just a picture I was totally freaked out! Glad it worked out to be dislocated instead of broken. Are you coming up this weekend? Oh and I don't have facebook, but I'll text you later. I have been camping and didn't get a chance to text you back. Love ya!

OUCH! Glad you're okay though. Just go to Lindsay's house, she plays Michael Jackson quite often. You can just run around her house and pretend you are skating :)

My girls came home from the skating rink all freaked out. I was like, what happened? They showed me a picture of your finger. All I could say was ouch! I think you scared my girls out of ever wanting to skate again.:( I am glad your finger wasn't broken. Thanks for being such a great Young Womens President. My girls have so much fun with you!
