Wednesday night fun.

A few weeks ago for mutual we were having a back to school party for the girls. We in all of our infinite wisdom decided it would be fun to do a fondue party. Have random things for the girls to dip. My counselor Emily graciously volunteered her house as she always does. Let me describe her home. It is beautiful. It looks like it came straight out of the pottery barn catalog. So cute and decorated beautifully!

Anyways back to the story.....

So we were busy cutting up all the yummy things we were going to dip. I look at the time and it is about a half hour before mutual is supposed to start. ( Or that is my recollection) I said we have got to get the chocolate fountain going so we can see if we need more chocolate or not. We had borrowed it from another friend and none of us had experience with the machine. How hard could it be right?? So Emily starts pouring the chocolate, and I say wait I need to turn it on so it doesn't overflow. Suddenly the very warm chocolate just starts whipping around.....EVERYWHERE! Leslie is in the corner of the kitchen screaming Oh, Oh, Oh.....Emily is screaming and I am madly trying to turn it off which was difficult because I was getting splashed with chocloate and I couldn't find the button. Finally managed to turn it off and we just all looked around. I just burst out in to laughter.....mostly because what are you going to do??? We just stood there.....in a daze looking at each other.....looking around the room......at emily's beautiful home covered in choclolate. All of this of course right before the girls are supposed to get there. Emily's white curtains.....splashed with chocolate, her freshly painted blue walls splashed, her floor covered, Emily covered, me covered. It was a mess.

We madly made a call to our good friend Kristine who came over and helped us put the fountain together correctly and start running. We put a plastic bag over this time just in case it malfunctioned again. Poor emily...it ruined her night I could tell. She immediately took the curtains down and tried to salvage those while the rest of us madly cleaned. I didn't have time to go home to change and actually the girls thought my shirt was supposed to be splashed with brown color. They had no idea what had just taken place moments before they arrived. All in all I think the party was fun and the girls liked it. We played games and had lots of chocolate covered food. Emily wanted us to throw out all the food covered in chocolate and we said no they will love it and they did. I wish emily and I would have taken a picture together. The two of us were covered. It was funny. Emily has since gotten over it because she continues to let us use her beautiful home! I love her!

OK, I must admit, I would have died if it had happened to my house. Emily is a much braver woman than I am!

This made me laugh. It's one of those moments in life where it's either laugh or cry at the mess. Emily is a brave person!
