The first day we got there we took the kids over to Alcatraz. It is always so interesting and amazing. There was an actual prisioner that had been on alcatraz named Darwin E Coon. We bought his book and had him sign it. Rob and Kailey have read it so far. I intend to...I hear his life story is amazing and that he has turned in to a great man. It is hard to imagine that Alcatraz really even existed just because it is so worn down so it was neat to see someone that actually had survived the experience.

One of the days we were there we rented a car and drove to Fairfield to the Jelly Belly Factory. That was a fun thing except for the tons of money spent on Jelly Bellys. On the way home we drove through Napa and saw all of the beautiful hills and hills of vines. It was breath taking! Then back through Sosilitos (sp) and across the Golden Gate Bridge. Amazing! Loved the fog rolling in across the bridge.

On friday Rob's brother Bill flew out to come hang out with us. We had fun walking down the warf, taking the trolley, eating yummy foods. The pictures are of us eating breakfast at the Fairmont, taking the trolley and hanging out at the warf. We went to dinner friday night at a place called the Sliding Door. It was great food!

One of our last days there we walked over to China Town with the kids. Of course they were cracking up at themselves. Bill didnt want to stay there so he left and Rob, Kyle, Kailey and I walked around. We could have walked around hours looking at everything...to bad we were short on time.

How fun for your older kids!!! Speaking from experience of being the oldest child - it was always nice to be treated to something special. We went to the Jelly Belly Factory in the beginning of July & I loved it! My kids are huge Jelly Belly fans now. Didn't you just love the art made out of jelly beans! And the smell of sugar as you walked through the tour! :-)

How stinkin fun!! You guys are such fun and cool parents!! I hope to be like that when my kids are older!! They are so blessed!! Memories, Memories!
So you are the coolest mom ever! Sounds like you all had a great time.
Sounds like you guys had tons of fun. I love the pictures. Blogs are so fun because you get to see and hear things you might not otherwise. Your kids will remember that forever!
That is way cool...i have never been there but what fun for everyone espcially the jelly belly factory! YUM
Oh my. Would have loved to be your kids growing up. That looks so great! We loved alcatraz too. The tour was really fun.
I hear there is an "open adoption" policy and that's a good thing cause I AM MOVING IN!
I hope that I am even half as cool as you are when my kids are older. I have never been to San Fran, but my hubby has (but then where hasn't he been?)
What a fun trip! I have to agree with Julie, blogs are so great. I get to live vicariously through so many people!

On another note, I am terribly sorry about your canine loss. I have never owned a dog that I have ever really gotten close to, but I definately understand the bond that forms. Gosh Rachel, it's like losing a child I am sure. I am so so sorry. Those pics are priceless. I can feel how much you loved her. I hope you are okay.
(And gosh I love your blog!)
